Girls Just Wanna Have Brunch
In case you didn't know, it's National Wine Day today. Any excuse for a glass (or two or three) of vino or bubbly is a good excuse in my book. Make it a mimosa at a stay-in brunch with some close girl friends and now you're really celebrating. Throw in some Tsar Nicoulai Gold Pearl Salmon Roe and you're celebrating in style.
The roe's Traditional Signature Bite suggestion is to top farm fresh scrambled eggs, mini potatoes, or bagels. The neutral flavors of these choices soften the bold flavor of the roe, while still letting its brightness stand out.
On a recent trip home, I invited myself over to my high school best friend's parents' beautiful home to cook up a brunch and drink some champagne. I kept it super simple. No frills - just good food and good company. First I drizzled sliced crusty bread with some olive oil and toasted it in the oven. Then I whisked a little bit of milk into some eggs, seasoned with salt and pepper, and cooked a loose scramble in some sizzling butter. I topped the toast with the scrambled eggs and garnished with a conservative dollop of the Salmon Roe. You don't need too much - the flavor goes a long way. I added some microgreens for color.
Of course, the Salmon Roe was the star of the show, but the main point was to catch up. Any girl will know how fun it is to spend endless hours eating, drinking, and gabbing. Keep the mimosas and coffee flowing and what else do you possibly need in that moment? I love it when I can meet up with girl friends I haven't seen and might not have been able to speak to in a while and it's as if no time has passed. I hope everyone is lucky enough to have that friend that you just know is going to be in your life forever! And I hope you can all get together for brunch every once in a while.
We were a tech recruiter, an organic baby food company brand leader, and a caviar blogger. But really we were just girls who wanted to brunch. And we had the best time.
